Different Appetite, Colorful Tastes of Kimchi

Kimchi well-known as one of the world's five health foods is a national food of Korea with a long history.

Kimchi is a processed vegetable made by admixing vegetables or edible herbs with seasonings, fruit, fish, pickles and others before lacticfermentation.

It is a main side dish in the diet of the Korean people. All the Koreans like it and make it in all seasons.

Kimchi-making methods are colorful according to regions and the kinds and tastes of kimchi are also different.

The Ryugyong Kimchi Factory in the capital Pyongyang produces various kinds of kimchi with peculiar tastes.

The whole bok choy kimchi, nutritive kimchi for children, unseasoned kimchi, a kind of radish kimchi and other tasty and nutritive kimchi products are popular among people.

The respected Kim Jong Un gave field guidance to the Ryugyong Kimchi Factory twice and was greatly concerned to provide the people with a larger quantity of delicious kimchi.

He visited the newly built factory in June Juche 105(2016).

Looking round the factory, he corrected a wrong production process and said the factory should make kimchi produced in an industrial way more deliciously than the ones made at homes.

When he called at the factory again in January next year, he counted the kinds of kimchi in person and stressed the need to increase its variety. And he said: As people look different, so their tastes are not the same. It is necessary to know what kind of kimchi they like and make kimchi according to their tastes and demand.

As he said, the factory made efforts to develop new products for increasing their variety and further improve their quality.

As a result, in Juche 108(2019), the whole bok choy kimchi of the factory won the December 15 Quality Medal which is awarded to the best domestic products.

The Ryugyong Kimchi of every kind is produced according to the tastes of people. It has become one of the most popular foods in the country.
