This year, too, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has carried on socialist construction in severe and arduous circumstances such as the ceaseless suffocation moves of the hostile forces, the daily-worsening world health crisis and the disastrous abnormal weather conditions threatening humanity.

But it made another progress, frustrating all kinds of challenges and difficulties by dint of the single-minded unity with which the leader believes in the people and the people support the leader with loyalty.

2021 Starts with Love for the People

On the morning of the first day of the new year Juche 110(2021) the Korean people received an autograph letter of the respected Kim Jong Un.

The letter pulsated with his noble intention of selfless and devoted service which was as good as the pledge he made to the country and people.

True to the pledge, Kim Jong Un conducted energetic activities from the outset of the new year.

At the Eighth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea held between January 5 and 12, Juche 110(2021), he made clear that the congress should be working, struggling and advancing one and put forward a new five-year plan for national economic development.

And in February he convened the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK and took concrete measures to bring about a practical change and substantial progress from the first year of implementing the five-year plan.

Afterwards, too, meetings were held one after another to take measures necessary for settling pending problems arising in the economic work and the people's living and discuss issues arising in strengthening cities and counties and stabilizing the people's living.

Researcher Ri Hye Suk at the Academy of Social Sciences says:

"This year many important meetings were held and a lot of measures taken at the meetings.

Undertakings were done throughout the Party and the country to stabilize and improve the people's living ranging from the issue on solving the food problem to the issues on pushing ahead with the work for providing dairy products to the children across the country as a Party policy, on building a lot of dwelling houses at the state expense and on successfully promoting the rehabilitation of the afflicted areas in South Hamgyong Province.

This shows the unchangeable will of our Party to bring about a practical change and substantial progress in the people's living."

With the Might of Single-Minded Unity

This year, too, the leader and the people were always of the same mind and all the difficulties were impotent before the strength of the single-minded unity based on their noble love and obligation.

Kim Jong Un unfolded a grand blueprint of socialist paradise believing in the people and the people devoted all their wisdom and passion to materializing his intention and plan in firm unity behind him.

This year, the first year of the five-year plan, is a year of key significance deciding failure or success of the implementation of the decisions adopted at the Eighth Party Congress.

The whole country seethed like a crucible to carry out the tasks set forth by the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee.

The metal and chemical industries and other leading sectors of the national economy rose up, all units made a progress amid emulation and a vigorous struggle was waged everywhere to lay a foundation for development in the future.

The construction of 10,000 flats in Pyongyang City, the construction of the Pothong Riverside Terraced Residential District, the construction of dwelling houses in the Komdok area and the 3rd-stage project of the Samjiyon City construction were powerfully promoted, and the areas of South Hamgyong Province hit by natural disasters turned into places for a happy life of the people. The hot wind for high yields blew in the agricultural sector and thus great achievements were made in the grain production.

The whole country was filled with the beautiful love and affection with which the people help and lead each other forward and devote themselves to others. All people regarded it as their moral obligation to allay the anxiety of the Party and the agony of the state.

They tided over all the bottlenecks and difficulties under the slogan "One for All and All for One!".

Our victory is certain thanks to the infinite strength of the single-minded unity, the blood relationship with which the leader devotes his all to the people and the people believe in the leader as in heaven and follow him alone and work heart and soul to realize his idea and intention.
