December 2 1975 is an important day in the history of Laotian people since the founding of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic was declared to the whole world that day.
After totally eliminating the colonial rule and feudal monarchical system of the imperialists, the Lao people set out on a worthwhile struggle to build a new, prosperous country by taking their destiny into their own hands.
The period, when they were forced to the destiny of colonial slavery under all manner of humiliation and insult and suffered the vortex of war due to foreign interference, passed into history.
They have waged vigorous struggle for bringing about social progress and changes under the leadership of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
Laos directs great efforts to enhancing the leading role of the party while developing the economy and all other fields of society in a multilateral way.
It strives to increase output in agricultural and forestry sectors and alleviate poverty in rural areas.
While channelling efforts into education, it is planning to make all residents attain the level of knowledge of senior middle school graduates by 2030.
The government, which devotes great efforts to developing science and technology, works to increase the ranks of scientists and train them.
Meanwhile, it promotes many-sided cooperation and exchanges with other countries to further spur the country’s development.
The Korean people extend firm solidarity to the Laotian counterpart who are striving to make fresh headway in the struggle to build a prosperous socialist country.
