The Korean people do not forget the benevolent image of the great leader Kim Jong Il who always wore a simple jacket on his continued field guidance tour.
Kim Jong Il started to wear the jacket in the 1980s.
In Juche 73(1984) he prepared a new single-breasted suit for the great leader President Kim Il Sung who returned home from his foreign visit. He said he would work faithfully for the people, wearing a plain jacket for the rest of his life instead of the President. And he earnestly asked him to work in single-breasted suit and necktie, taking frequent breaks.
Since then, Kim Jong Il, wearing the jacket all the time, devoted himself to prosperity of the country and happiness of the people.
One day toward the end of Juche 99(2010), officials told him who continued his field guidance tour in plain jacket that they would like to present him with a marshal's uniform.
Kim Jong Il said to them that he liked the jacket and that he felt at ease when he put on the jacket familiar to the people.
Wearing the plain jacket throughout his life, he visited all parts of the country wherever there were people irrespective of bad weather and rugged path.
He covered more than 353,576 kilometres of distance for his field guidance for 17 years alone from the New Year's Day after 1994 when Kim Il Sung passed away to the last moment of his great life.
The Korean people have the portrait of smiling Kim Jong Il in jacket on walls of their homes.
