The respected Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, watched the test fire of hypersonic missile made by the Academy of Defence Science on January 11.
Watching it together with him were Jo Yong Won, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau and Secretary for Organizational Affairs of the Central Committee of WPK, deputy directors of departments concerned of the Party Central Committee and leading officials in the field of national defence science.
Kim Jong Un was briefed on the the hypersonic missile weapon system by the President of the Academy of Defence Science before the test fire.
The test fire was aimed at making a final confirmation of the overall specifications of the developed hypersonic weapon system.
The hypersonic missile was launched into the sky.
The hypersonic gliding warhead was separated from the launched missile, made a gliding re-leap from the point of 600 kilometres and 240-kilometre acute circular flight from the initial launch azimuth to the pinpoint to hit the target in the waters 1,000 kilometres away.
The final test fire more clearly proved the superb manoeuvrability of the hypersonic gliding warhead.
Kim Jong Un highly appreciated the practical success of the scientists, technicians and officials in the field of missile research and the party organizations concerned that have made a greater success in the field of hypersonic weapon system development which is of the most important strategic significance of the five core tasks of the five-year plan for the development of defence capability presented by the Eighth Congress of the WPK. And he gave special thanks to them in the name of the Party Central Committee.
He underscored the need to strengthen the strategic military power of the country both in quality and quantity and in a sustainable way and put greater spurs to the struggle for enhancing the modernity of the army. He said the field of defence science research should continue to make good successes in the historic sacred work to drastically strengthen the war deterrent of the country, true to the policy of the Party on developing national defence and its strategic policy.
That day, Kim Jong Un invited the core members in the field of hypersonic weapon system research and development to the headquarters building of the Party Central Committee to congratulate them and have a photo taken with them.
