The great leader Kim Il Sung organized and waged the anti-Japanese armed struggle around Mt. Paektu and liberated the country in Juche 34(1945).
The 15-year anti-Japanese armed struggle was an unprecedentedly arduous and severe one that had to be waged against the formidable enemy without state rear or assistance of a regular army.
The anti-Japanese fighters fought bloody battles consecutively in the enemy's vicious siege and dogged pursuit, overcoming intense cold, raging blizzards and food shortage.
The area of Mt. Paektu keeps battlefields of the anti-Japanese war as they were.
The respected Kim Jong Un looked round the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu between November 30 and December 2, Juche 108(2019).
He said everyone should come and see the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu to learn how the history of victory of the Korean revolution was written. He stressed that the study tour of the revolutionary battle sites should not be made in the way of recalling the past history.
Now young people actually feel what severe hardships and trials the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners underwent through the study tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the area of Mt. Paektu.
Worker Kim Phyong Ham at the Moranbong Printing Factory in the capital Pyongyang says:
"I went to Mt. Paektu in December 2019. It was 40 degrees Celsius below zero at that time.
I experienced the intense cold and blizzards of Mt. Paektu I had seen in films and read in books.
I actually felt the severe hardships and trials undergone by the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners, ploughing my way through the waist-deep virgin snow and warming myself and cooking rice at the campfire in the biting cold."
The battlefields of the anti-Japanese war remind the young people of the exploits performed by Kim Il Sung for national liberation, the noble fighting spirit of the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners and their ardent love for the country.
