The whole country entered 2022 with pride and self-confidence after glorifying 2021, the first year for the implementation of the new five-year plan for national economic development put forth at the Eighth Congress of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

Last year the DPRK carried out enormous tasks even in the face of trials and difficulties to make praiseworthy achievements.

The national economy was managed in a stable way, achievements worthy of praise and evident stride forward hardening self-confidence were made in the agricultural field and huge construction projects were dynamically pushed in the construction sector, thereby powerfully demonstrating the development and potential power of Korean-style socialism making a leap forward.

Whether the successes of last year are continuously expanded or not depends on the struggle of this year.

All affairs of this year can be likened to a power transmission unit connecting the motive power which powerfully promoted the struggle in the first year for implementing the new five-year plan to the one for implementing the plan.

It is the plan and will of the WPK to make this year the one for paving a broad way, or for laying the foundation for implementing the five-year plan by further raising and transmitting the surging spirit of last year.

Many bottlenecks and difficulties still remain ahead of the Korean people.

Still, victory is in store for the people in the struggle of this year that is being waged after they received a practical programme for national prosperity put forth at the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.

The Korean people, who groped for and found the methods of stabilizing the economy with their own efforts and wisdom and living by dint of self-reliance in the most difficult environment last year, have found out what should be overcome and improved in future and solutions to the relevant problems through the plenary meeting.

They have now all solutions based on last year’s successes and experiences, which incorporate precious lessons and devoted efforts and which are replete with an extraordinary sense of responsibility and strenuous spirit, and on scientific prediction about future. These constitute the firm asset and springboard for making a leap forward to greater success and victory for the Korean people advancing toward great new victory.

Now the Koreans are taking vigorous steps in their advance to provide a sure guarantee for the implementation of the five-year plan and bring about a remarkable change in the state’s development and the people’s standard of living so as to record a noteworthy page in the history of the country this year.

New changes are brought about in all realms of social life, and a resolute advance is being made to definitely lead socialist construction in the country to its comprehensive development by achieving simultaneous and balanced development in all regions of the country and in all sectors of the national economy.

The building of a powerful socialist country which thrives by dint of self-sustenance and self-existence  has become a realistic goal, not an ideal of the remote future, thanks to the vigorous struggle of the Korean people who are performing miracles and feats with more strenuous efforts and greater devotion in every workplace and post.
