Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, sent a message of greetings to Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and President of the People's Republic of China.

I, on behalf of the Workers' Party of Korea, the Government of the DPRK and the Korean people, ardently congratulate the 24th Winter Olympic Games opening in Beijing.

My sincere greetings also go to you, General Secretary, the Communist Party of China, the Government of the People's Republic of China and the entire Chinese people.

The Beijing Winter Olympic Games are the first great event greeted by the Communist Party and people of China in the first year of the new century for the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation and a common festival of the peoples and sportspersons of all countries of the world aspiring after peace, friendship and unity.

It is another great victory of socialist China that the Beijing Winter Olympic Games are successfully held despite the worldwide health crisis and unprecedentedly arduous circumstances.

The Olympic torch raised in Beijing clearly shows that whatever difficulties and challenges can never check the way of the Chinese people vigorously advancing firmly rallied around the Communist Party of China with you at its core.

I am sure that the games would powerfully demonstrate the vibrant Chinese spirit and national power, registering a brilliant page in the history of the international sports movement as the homely, safe and colourful games thanks to your correct leadership and sincere efforts of the Communist Party and people of China.

Today the DPRK-China relations have been consolidated into an invincible strategic relations nothing can break in the struggle for defending and advancing the common cause, and the two parties and the two peoples of the DPRK and China are strengthening unity and cooperation in all fields including the politics, economy, culture and sports.

I will, in the future, too, continuously develop, hand in hand with you, the relations between the two parties and two countries onto a new higher stage in conformity with the desire of the peoples of the two countries.
