Premier Kim Tok Hun, who is also member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and vice-president of the DPRK State Affairs Commission, got familiar with immediate farming and emergency anti-epidemic situation in North Hwanghae Province and Nampho City on the spot.

Making the rounds of the Migok Cooperative Farm in Sariwon City, the Sokjong Cooperative Farm in Hwangju County, the Chongsan Cooperative Farm in Kangso District and other farms in North Hwanghae Province and Nampho City, the Premier gave pep-talks to agricultural workers and helpers who have made strenuous efforts in the major thrust area of socialist construction in response to the decisions of the Fourth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee and acquainted himself with the problems arising in farming after the operation of the top emergency anti-epidemic system.

Officials in the agricultural sector should bear deep in mind that to overcome the effect of disastrous abnormal climate is of key importance in attaining the grain production goal and make full, effective use of labour and means to meet persisting unfavourable weather conditions so as to wage the drought damage prevention campaign more vigorously, he said.

He called for finishing immediate rice-transplantation qualitatively and in time by manuring and cultivating preceding crops including wheat and barley scientifically and technologically, actively introducing advanced seedling growing methods, firmly adhering to scientific farming and increasing the proportion of the farm work done by machines.

The Premier familiarized himself with the anti-epidemic situation while looking round pharmacies in Sariwon City and Hwangju and Yonthan counties of North Hwanghae Province, and Kangso and Waudo districts of Nampho City.

Saying that the lines and policies of the Party Central Committee set forth in the Politburo meeting and consultative meetings of the Party Central Committee should be implemented without condition, he called for scrupulously organizing the transport and supply of medical supplies so that the medicines prepared under the care of the Party could correctly reach residents in time.

He also referred to the need for pharmacies to improve environment in a hygienic and cultured way, give top priority to the people’s convenience and improve the service of politely informing them of the directions and dosage of medicines and enhance the role of power organs in the provision of materials for the people’s life including sufficient supply of vegetables and condiments to local residents.

At the port of Nampho, the Premier stressed the need to strictly observe anti-epidemic regulations and orders in the keeping and dealing of freight as required by the top emergency anti-epidemic system with extraordinary consciousness that they defend the outpost line of the anti-epidemic war.
