Jagang and North Hamgyong provinces push ahead with afforestation in a far-sighted way.
The working people of Jagang Province turned out like one to plant tens of millions of trees in the area of some 25 000 hectares, overfulfilling the spring tree-planting plan.
Cities and counties planted over hundreds of thousands of wild fruit, oil-bearing and medicinal trees as they correctly selected varieties on the principle of right tree on the right soil and introduced advanced tree-planting methods. Healthy tree saplings were satisfactorily secured by running tree nurseries carefully at institutions, enterprises and organizations along with the production of tree saplings at parent nurseries.
This spring, North Hamgyong Province planted wild fruit trees of economic value in the area of over 1 100 hectares to turn all mountains into useful gold and treasure ones.
Cities and counties secured hundreds of thousands of wild fruit tree saplings including Xanthoceras sorbifolia, apricot and black walnut trees, while increasing the rooting rate of saplings by using root growth stimulants. While showing primary concern for consolidating material and technical foundations of parent nurseries, they rearranged hills, dug holes, laid humus soil and tamped soil as they provided growth conditions of wild fruit trees.
