It is ten years since the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un provided field guidance at the Central Zoo in Pyongyang.
On his visit to the zoo in May 2012, he gave officials an instruction to refurbish it into a more wonderful cultural recreation centre for the people and improve its operation.
He also told them to build a comprehensive natural history museum at the zoo so as to impart profound knowledge of animals and plants and renovate the zoo.
As a result, the Natural History Museum was completed with the zoo undergoing a sea change in a short period.
The museum has a total floor space of over 35 000 square metres and more than 40 animal houses were constructed in a way that each house can be recognized from faraway places. The modern buildings go well with the surrounding scenery.
Kim Jong Un inspected the museum and zoo again on May 20 2016 when the project was nearing completion.
In the past decade lots of people visited the cultural facilities.
Visitors to the museum are unaware of the passage of time fascinated by the universe and the world of dinosaurs and expand their knowledge of the solar system including the earth and biology, and the people’s laughter rings out in every place of the zoo.
The cultural facilities have updated databases with a great deal of new and valuable data on science and technology and common knowledge as well. Interesting animal stunts have been created in larger numbers and inhabitants of the zoo are on the increase.
The animals sent to the zoo from home and abroad in the past six years numbered over 15 000 in some 600 kinds and more than 60 species of animals have given birth to hundreds of younglings this year.
