Several barrage companies of the Ministry of Land and Maritime Transport are continuously striving to prevent damage from heavy rain and flood.
As it is anticipated that it will keep raining much accompanied by downpour in all parts of the country, the ministry is flexibly leading the work to make sure that the variation of water level of the Taedong River and the West Sea of Korea is sharply observed and measured and the floodgate control is done in a scientific way under the unified command of the Taedong River flood control group.
The West Sea Barrage Company is engrossed in the work to protect residential areas, public establishments and farmland around the Taedong River against damage from heavy rain, downpour and flood. And while ensuring the substantial operation of a real-time observation system, the company thoroughly checks the conditions of relevant equipment and structures including floodgate hoists and opens the floodgates in time after precisely analyzing the volume of outflow of water according to the inflow of water increasing per hour.
The Mirim, Ponghwa and other barrage companies around the basin of the Taedong River check the operation of every relevant facility, including gantry crane, lest there should be any trifling matter with them while carefully observing the water level of the river changing per hour.
