On the occasion of the 77th anniversary of Korea’s liberation, wreaths were laid at the Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery on Mt Taesong in Pyongyang on August 14.

The honour guards of the Korean People’s Army lined up at the cemetery.

The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, vice-president of the DPRK State Affairs Commission and premier of the DPRK Cabinet, Choe Ryong Hae, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, first vice-president of the DPRK SAC and chairman of the Standing Committee of the DPRK Supreme People’s Assembly, senior Party and government officials including Ri Il Hwan, Kim Jae Ryong, Pak Jong Gun, Pak Su Il and Kim Yong Hwan, officials of the SPA Standing Committee and the Cabinet, Party and government officials in Pyongyang and members of the armed forces organs.

The national anthem of the DPRK was played.

Amid the playing of the wreath-laying music, wreaths in the names of the WPK Central Committee, the DPRK SAC, the DPRK SPA Standing Committee and the DPRK Cabinet were placed on the wreath-laying stand of the cemetery.

Written on the ribbons were letters reading, “The revolutionary martyrs will be immortal”.

The participants paid a silent tribute in memory of the anti-Japanese revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their youth and lives unhesitatingly for national liberation and victory in the revolutionary cause of Juche remaining faithful to the idea and leadership of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Then they looked round the cemetery.

The participants hardened their firm pledge to uphold the guidance of the great Party Central Committee single-mindedly and faithfully by emulating the revolutionary martyrs’ boundless loyalty to the leader, unshakeable revolutionary faith and indomitable fighting spirit and add brilliance to their sacred country as a prosperous and powerful nation of Juche where the desire of the martyrs are translated into reality.

That day, officials of Party and administrative organs and working people’s organizations and service personnel in Ryanggang Province laid wreaths at the revolutionary martyrs cemetery in Hyesan.
