The Korean people celebrated the 77th anniversary of their country’s liberation with great national pride and dignity.
An endless stream of people visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the supreme sanctuary of Juche where President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il are preserved in their lifetime appearance.
At the sacred place of the Sun, officials of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly, the Cabinet and ministries and national agencies, along with service personnel, working people and students, looked back with deep emotion on the immortal revolutionary exploits of the peerlessly great man who achieved the historic cause of national liberation by waging long bloody battles and going through endless snowstorms.
Working people, service personnel and students laid flower baskets, bouquets and flowers at the great leaders’ statues, including those on Mansu Hill in Pyongyang, and the portraits of their beaming images across the country, and made a bow to them.
To mark the anniversary, the national flag of the DPRK was hoisted at institutions and enterprises across the country.
A variety of celebration performances were staged in Pyongyang and local areas.
They livened up the festive atmosphere as they reflected the single-minded determination of the people to translate into brilliant reality the great leaders’ patriotic desire for building a powerful country and to uphold the guidance of the Party Central Committee with loyalty.
A men’s football match was held at Kim Il Sung Stadium as part of the Hwaeppul Cup tournament, instilling revolutionary enthusiasm and vigour into the people who turned out in the general onward march towards a fresh victory in socialist construction.
Youth and students and women’s union members held dance parties in different parts of the country that day.
