An enlarged meeting of the Fifth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK) took place on September 20 through videoconferencing.

It was attended by members and alternate members of the Central Committee of the GFTUK.

Present there as observers were officials of the GFTUK Central Committee and those of city and county trade union committees.

The meeting discussed such issues as of intensifying ideological education for union members.

Pak In Chol, chairman of the GFTUK Central Committee, delivered a keynote speech.

He referred to the need to continuously intensify the work of modelling the whole union on the revolutionary ideas of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and more thoroughly establishing the unified leadership system of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un by taking the work as the lifeline.

He said that TU organizations at all levels should provide its members with a full understanding of the immortal revolutionary exploits the peerlessly great persons performed for the upbuilding of the trade union and conduct five-point education in various forms and by different methods with the main stress put on the education in the revolutionary traditions and loyalty so as to amplify its effects to the maximum.

He stressed the need to intensify the campaign against anti-socialist and non-socialist practices, which threaten the ideology, system and culture of the country, in order to consolidate the revolutionary and class positions more firmly.

He said that all TU officials and members should contribute to the economic life of the country and take an active part in different forms of do-good-thing movement which is substantially instrumental to economic construction and the improvement of the people’s livelihood so as to truly contribute to the prosperity of the country.

Cherishing deep in mind the trust of the Party which gave the valuable title of the heroic working class of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, all the working people including TU members should fulfil their mission and duty as the eldest son and vanguard unit of the country by displaying extraordinary patriotic devotion in actively opening up a new phase of state development.

Speeches were made at the meeting.

Speakers expressed their resolve to perform new miracles and innovations in every site for bringing about an upswing to achieve the overall development of Korean-style socialism by invariably carrying on the fighting spirit of working people of preceding generations who had infinitely been loyal to the Party and revolution and the baton of patriotism.

The meeting adopted relevant decisions based on an in-depth study of their drafts.
