The global food crisis is deteriorating due to unfavourable disastrous abnormal weather conditions and international conflicts.

Under these circumstances, different countries make positive efforts to attain self-sufficiency in food by continuously developing agriculture.

The Ugandan government has taken measures to increase the proportion of the farm work done by machines.

It has recently taken a series of steps to increase the proportion of the farm work done by machines and rid farmers of the lackadaisical way of farming.

At present, only nine tractors have reportedly been allotted per 100 square kilometres in Uganda.

Therefore, the government has taken different measures to greatly increase food production while ensuring the supply of farm machines like tractor on a priority basis to large-scale farms.

Belarus shows keen interest in the agricultural sector.

A meeting of activists was held in the agricultural sector to review this year’s farming in the country on November 18.

President Alexander Lukashenko said that the agricultural sector plays an important role in achieving national prosperity and ensuring food security at the meeting, which drew high-ranking officials and over 600 agricultural officials from across the country and expressed thanks to the agricultural workers who made a record-breaking bumper harvest of 10.5 million tons of grains. Saying that agricultural workers achieved notable successes by successfully overcoming all sorts of difficulties, he referred to the ways for boosting agricultural production in the future.

Cuba also pay national attention to boosting agricultural production.

On November 7, President Miguel Diaz-Canel appreciated that 5 000 hectares of farmland washed away by hurricane were restored and different kinds of crops were sown during his inspection tour of the western province of the country worst-hit by the hurricane.

It is necessary to decisively increase agricultural production so that residents can be supplied with food as soon as possible, he noted.

Today, when the global food crisis has worsened, international efforts will be stepped up to develop agriculture.
