The Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill is on the bank of the picturesque Taedong River in the capital Pyongyang.
The mill is warmly associated with the immortal leadership exploits of the great leader Kim Jong Il who was concerned about the clothing issue of the people all his life.
On January 15, Juche 98(2009), Kim Jong Il visited the mill for the fourth time and instructed on clothing the Korean people better.
And he called for putting the production processes on a modern footing to produce a larger amount of quality silk thread.
The officials and employees regarded the modernization of the production processes as a shortcut to the development of the mill and solved all problems with their own efforts and technology through the mass technical innovation movement.
They gave precedence to the supply of cocoons, the main raw materials for the production of silk thread, and made equipment, accessories and parts by themselves to normalize the production.
They manufactured and installed the streamlined cocoon sorters and container-style cold storage of large capacity with their own efforts and technology, and achieved many other successes in making the equipment high-speed and modern. They consistently renovated production processes with main stress on saving a lot of manpower and electricity while increasing the productivity, thus putting the silk thread production on a higher scientific level.
They also worked in a bold way to turn the inside of the mill like a palace and its outside like a park.
In those days a fundamental change was brought about in the production and business activities and the mill became a model of the whole country.
