Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of different sectors in their vigorous struggle to carry out the decisions of the Fourth and Fifth Plenary Meetings of the Eighth Party Central Committee.
At the Chongsan Farm in Kangso District of Nampho City, he learned in detail about the performance of tractors produced at the Kumsong Tractor Factory and said the officials and workers in the field of machine-building industry should make an active contribution to promoting the comprehensive mechanization of agriculture by steadily improving the quality of products.
At the Muhak Farm in Sinwon County of South Hwanghae Province, he acquainted himself with the dry-field irrigation equipment of different types and stressed the need to reinforce and complete the irrigation system according to the actual conditions of the regions concerned and thus raise the stability of the agricultural production.
He familiarized himself in detail with the researches at the Hydraulic Engineering Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences and the production of ordered equipment at the Taean Heavy Machine Complex, and emphasized that the officials, scientists, technicians and workers should make redoubled efforts to research and manufacture generating equipment of high performance.
Consultative meetings were held on the spot.
Meanwhile, Premier Kim learned about the preparations for the new year's farming and the winter wheat and barley farming at the Ryongjin Farm in Kaechon City of South Phyongan Province and took relevant measures. He also acquainted himself with the sale and securing of commodities at the Kaechon City Department Store and the quality of consumer goods.
