Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, on January 17 received a reply message from Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and president of the People’s Republic of China.
The message said:
On behalf of the Korean party, government and people, you, Comrade General Secretary, sent a message of condolence before anyone else to express condolences and sympathy over the death of Comrade Jiang Zemin.
On behalf of the Chinese party, government and people, I express my heartfelt thanks to you and convey the thanks of the bereaved family of Comrade Jiang Zemin.
Comrade Jiang Zemin was an outstanding leader with high prestige recognized by the entire party and whole army and people of several nations in China, and made an important contribution to consolidating and developing the traditional China-DPRK friendship as a close friend of the Korean party and people.
Under the new situation, the Chinese side, together with the Korean side, is willing to continue to defend, consolidate and develop the China-DPRK relations with credit and thus make a positive contribution to promoting the socialist cause in the two countries, providing happiness to the two peoples and achieving the regional peace, stability, development and prosperity.
I wish you fresh, continued successes in accomplishing the DPRK’s cause of socialist construction by leading the Korean party and people.
