A memorial concert “The Stars of the Country” took place on April 26 this year outside the newly built Memorial Museum of Combat Feats at the Overseas Military Operations.
Put on the stage were hymns to the combatants at the overseas military operations and famous patriotism-themed songs.
Among them were “The Stars of the Country” and “We Will Remember Them,” both songs cherished by the people.
With deep emotion and gentle melody, these songs give a rich description of the feats of the combatants of the overseas operations unit who fought a brave fight, unhesitatingly risking their lives at the call of the country in the battlefields where justice and injustice clashed. They made the audience keenly feel with painful indignation and grim resolution what a dear price the soldiers paid for the dignity and immortal fame of the strong.
The songs were premiered in August last year when a performance was given in congratulation of the men and officers of the overseas operations unit of the Korean People’s Army.
Pulsating with the soul of loyalty and patriotism of the heroes who devoted their precious lives to the ever-lasting prosperity of the DPRK and peace and wellbeing of the people, they sang highly of the truth that the world-startling brilliant combat feats of the KPA are the gains of the venerable tradition of the Korean revolution which has been pioneered and emerged victorious by dint of ideology.
When played at the 2026 New Year celebration performance, they reminded the audience of the indomitable images of the combatants who struck terror into the enemies by displaying mass heroism and unrivalled sacrificing spirit as they ardently loved their country and laid down their lives readily at the call of the motherland.
With the common theme of what a life is shining as a star of the country forever and what a life is remembered forever by the country and posterity, they offer an ideological and artistic explanation that the life dedicated to the country is ever lasting and shines as the brightest star. They are still tugging at the people’s heartstrings.
