At 10:00 on February 8, 75 years ago, the first military parade of the Korean People's Army was grandly held in the capital Pyongyang.

As to the scene at that time, the then newspapers carried an article as follows:

"Too excited, the people shouted; 'Long Live the Korean People's Army!'. Confetti was seen flying over their heads. Hurrah! Hurrah again! The ranks made their way in the vibration of cheers and exclamation....

The ranks advanced forward amid the shaking cheers of many mothers and fathers...."

The Korean people had to live as a ruined nation under the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists for over 40 years. So it was their earnest desire to have their powerful national army. That'swhy they were greatly rejoiced over the founding of the Korean People's Army and gave cheers for the great leader Kim Il Sung, who realized the cherished desire of the nation,at the top of their voices.

The regular revolutionary armed forces were born under the energetic leadership of Kim Il Sung.

Right after the liberation of Korea in Juche 34(1945), Kim Il Sung clarified that our country should become a completely independent and sovereign state and for the purpose, it is necessary to found a powerful national army which can safeguard the country and nation and defend the gains of the revolution.

At that time there was no experience of building a regular armed force and military cadres were lacking. But Kim Il Sung actively pushed ahead with the work to build a regular revolutionary army with our own efforts.

He decided to solve the problem of military cadres by our own efforts with the fighters tempered in the flames of the anti-Japanese war as the backbone and forcefully pushed forward with it.

In February Juche 35(1946) he established the Pyongyang Institute training a large number of military and political cadres needed for the building of regular armed forces and became its honorary rector.

He learned that the Pyongyang Institute alone could not train all the military and political cadres of different services and arms as the regular armed forces were extensively built. Therefore, he saw that the Central Security Officers School was founded.

Besides, he made his uninterrupted field guidance tour in order to organize different branches of arms of the regular armed forces such as tankmen, artillerymen, engineers and communications men and solve necessary arms and equipment by our own efforts.

As a result, the founding of the Korean People's Army was declared all over the world on February 8, Juche 37(1948).

The first military parade of the Korean People's Army heralded the birth of the genuine regular revolutionary armed forces of the people.

Looking back upon the day, the parading ranks were too simple and so were the arms and equipment.

But the parading ranks organized in February grew to be an invincible elite revolutionary army along with the 75-year-long history.
