An enlarged plenary meeting of the Cabinet Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea took place on March 15 to implement the resolutions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.

Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK and premier of the Cabinet, and Ri Yong Sik, chief secretary of the Cabinet Party Committee, guided the meeting.

Present there were members and alternate members of the Cabinet Party Committee, with officials concerned attending as observers.

The meeting reviewed the Cabinet work for the first year of implementing the rural revolution programme in the new era and discussed measures for strictly carrying out the policy-oriented tasks facing the Cabinet and the state economic organs on the basis of the important guidelines formulated and set forth at the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.

A report was made at the meeting.

The reporter referred to the immortal revolutionary exploits of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , who provided a new fighting strategy for implementing the programme for socialist rural revolution and is wisely guiding the struggle towards a new phase of the national development.

He stressed that the important goals for definitely putting agricultural production on a stable development track and substantially consolidating the politico-ideological, material and technical foundations of the countryside are the tasks to be carried out without fail by displaying courageous enthusiasm and practical ability.

The meeting rigidly analysed and reviewed the shortcomings and lessons revealed in the implementation of the Party’s resolutions in the past.

Raised at the meeting were multi-faceted and concrete action plans for making sure that the Cabinet Party Committee and other Party organizations at all levels lay solid foundations for the stable and sustained development of agricultural production.

The meeting put the focus of discussion on the matters of arousing all Party organizations and members to the attainment of grain production goal and making the Cabinet Party Committee a powerful propellant in implementing the Party’s strategy for rural development.

It stressed the need for the economic guidance organs to establish a strict discipline in implementing the national economic plan and conduct the economic operation and guidance in a foresighted way and accurately.

It highlighted the need to bring about innovations in the state financial and banking work by rapidly solving the urgent problems arising in strengthening the country’s financial foundation and discipline and improving the banking work.

The meeting discussed the important issues for all Party organizations to give fuller play to the elated mental power and inexhaustible creative power of the masses with a sense of mission they have assumed before the Party and the revolution.

It called upon the Party organizations at all levels to establish the revolutionary discipline and order, redouble their activeness and fighting efficiency and thoroughly orient and subordinate their work to the implementation of the Party’s policies.

During the meeting, there were sectional consultative meetings for working out a plan for thorough execution of the policy-oriented tasks facing the Cabinet and the state economic organs in accordance with the advance orientation and the fighting programme clarified at the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the WPK.

A resolution, drawn up amid the enthusiasm of the participants determined to attain at any cost the important goals set forth by the Party Central Committee and do their best to carry out the Party’s resolutions unconditionally, thoroughly and correctly, was unanimously approved at the plenary meeting.
