Kim Tok Hun, Member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and Vice-President of the State Affairs Commission and Premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of the agricultural sectors in North and South Hwanghae Provinces.
He visited farms in a number of cities and counties including Suan and Singye Counties of North Hwanghae Province and Haeju City and Kangryong and Ongjin Counties of South Hwanghae Province. He mentioned the importance of doing good farming in South and North Hwanghae Provinces, the granary of the country, in thoroughly implementing the decisions of the Seventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee. And he said the officials should take timely measures for supplying farming materials and cope with the unfavourable weather conditions according to a well thought-out plan.
He stressed the need to give precedence to supplying the necessary materials and equipment in time and push ahead with the projects planned according to order and dates in keeping with the intention of the Party which has regarded the perfection of the irrigation system as a primary task to ensure the stable development of agriculture at present, so that this year's farming can prove effective.
Going round the construction site for desalting the Lake Kangryong which is of great importance in solving the water issue of South Hwanghae Province, Kim Tok Hun pointed out ways to complete the project at the shortest time including the responsible design and construction of structures.
The consultative meetings held on the spot discussed relevant issues before taking necessary measures.
On the other hand, Kim Tok Hun learned about the tideland reclamation methods presented by a number of educational institutions and scientific research units and seriously discussed specific issues to ensure scientific accuracy and profitability.
