This is the dam of the Wonsan Army-People Power Station in Kangwon Province. As the large-sized letters "Ja Ryok Gaeng Saeng" (self-reliance) show, the Wonsan Army-People Power Station is literally a product of self-reliance.
People of Kangwon Province carried out the huge project for building the power station by themselves, in which they had to divert a river flowing into the West Sea of Korea to the East Sea of Korea to make a high head.
They cut tens of kilometre-long waterway tunnel, built nearly 2 million cubic metres of dam, laid thousands of metre-long pressure iron pipe conduit, erected a generator room and assembled its equipment, and established the electric network system.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Wonsan Army-People Power Station in December Juche 105(2016). Pointing to the large-sized letters of self-reliance written on the dam, he said:
I am really encouraged. This power station has proved once again that self-reliance is the only way out to live and we can do anything when we regard the self-reliance and self-development as the motive power. No force in the world can break the indomitable spirit of the Korean people to build a powerful socialist country with their own strength, technology and resources.
Self-reliance is the only way out to live! This is the eternal truth kept by the Korean people as their faith.
