The Ninth Congress of the Korean Children’s Union was held in December last year amid the expectations of the whole country. It was attended by 5 000 delegates.

One February day this year, a delegate to the Congress left Pyongyang for home.

She was Jong Il Sim. The 14-year-old student of Kumjang Senior Middle School in Jaeryong County, South Hwagnhae Province, live in Jangguk-ri in Jaeryong County.

Busy as he was making preparations for the Sixth Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un took measures for medical treatment of the delegates to the KCU Congress.

Accordingly, medical workers, while inquiring about their health conditions, came to know that the girl had caught a disease, of which she has been unaware.

She was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome, which was impossible to be cured within a day or two. So, she was hospitalized in Kim Man Yu Hospital for two months.

The girl grew so sorry that she wept, as she could not participate in the Congress for which she had so longed.

Noting that school uniforms, bags, shoes and socks should be made specially well for the delegates to the Ninth Congress of the KCU and that they should be well dressed as there is a saying that fine feathers make fine birds, Kim Jong Un had made sure that famous garment factories took correct measurements of 5 000 delegates across the country and produced clothes at the highest level.

Considering the fact that the little delegates would arrive in Pyongyang in the cold season, though winter was far away, he had said they would be very cute if they were dressed with padded clothes, and personally went over the designs of the clothes.

While thinking about these, the girl recollected her friends who asked her to extend their greetings to the fatherly Marshal on behalf of them when electing her as their delegate, and her delighted parents and neighbours.

Owing to excessive excitement, her blood pressure kept rising and her diet reducing.

Medical workers and nurses grew impatient.

And officials of the WPK Central Committee inquired about her treatment frequently, and officials of the public health sector and the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League visited the hospital almost every day.

Medical workers of hospitals in Pyongyang held several rounds of consultations.

During the days of intensive treatment, large amounts of medicines were administered for her. Finally, she recovered her health.

Officials, medical workers and nurses of the hospital, teachers of Pyongyang Middle School No. 1 and many other people made sincere devotion for her recovery.

Before leaving the hospital, she toured by car the birthplace of President Kim Il Sung in Mangyongdae, Mangyongdae Schoolchildren’s Palace and Okryu Restaurant along the tour course covered by the delegates to the KCU Congress.

One day, an official of the WPK Central Committee visited her, and helped her wear a wristwatch, which was the same one as those awarded to the delegates to the Ninth Congress of the KCU.

Kim Jong Un saw to it that the same gifts, presented to the delegates, were sent to her house.

On the day of her departure, not only the girl but all other people were filled with happiness.

Teachers and students of her school and all villagers and family members welcomed her to her home.
