Today, we are celebrating the meaningful occasion, the 4 th anniversary of the visit to Vladivostok made by Comrade Kim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), and his meeting with His Excellency Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation.

The historic visit to Russia and the DPRK-Russia summit of April 2019 by Comrade Kim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, served as an important momentum for further consolidating and progressively developing the long-standing relations of friendship between the two countries and also for strengthening the traditional ties of friendship between the DPRK and Russia.

During the summit between Comrade Kim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs of the DPRK and His Excellency Putin, President of the Russian Federation, precious agreements were reached on promoting high-level visits, on developing cooperation across various fields, and on strengthening strategic communication and tactical cooperation on the journey for ensuring global peace and security.

The historic Vladivostok summit has opened up a new heyday in the DPRK-Russia relations:

In the year 2019 alone, the Minister of Development of Far East and Artic, the Deputy Minister of Defence and delegations of Foreign Ministry and major media of the Russian Federation visited our country and, for our part, Chairman of the Supreme People’s Assembly, Vice-Premier of the Cabinet and the First Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK visited Russia.

In this way, the two countries have actively conducted exchanges of high-level delegations, further promoting the development of bilateral relations.

From 2020, the world public health crisis gave rise to unfavourable and restrictive conditions for mutual contacts and exchanges. However, the strategic and tactical cooperation between the two countries has become yet closer and has been put onto a higher level on the basis of the agreement reached at the DPRK-Russia summit.

Today, following the long tradition of shoulder-to-shoulder struggle against the common enemy, the two countries are strengthening mutual support and solidarity in the struggle to resolutely smash the dangers of war and military threats from the outside; to safeguard the country’s security, dignity and peace; and to realize international justice.

It is the invariable stand of the DPRK government to elevate the long-standing and traditional relations of friendship between the DPRK and Russia, from the strategic point of view and as required by the era.

The DPRK-Russia relations have withstood the upheavals of history and have thus been cemented during the course. They will continue to brave all challenges and obstacles in the way and strongly carry on the intrinsic nature of friendship and cooperation under the special care of the leaders of the two countries.

We wish the Russian government and people successes in defending the country’s legal security and interests and in attaining the goal of building a powerful and prosperous state, resolutely fighting against the hegemony, arbitrariness and military threats of the hostile forces.
