In recent years the construction of 50,000 flats has been powerfully conducted in the capital city of Pyongyang and as a result, Songhwa Street was built last year and Hwasong Street this year.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, had the deficient number of households in the capital summed up and set the construction of 50,000 flats as an important revolutionary task to be carried out at any cost even in any unfavourable conditions and environment.
The Eighth Congress of the WPK held in January Juche 110(2021) decided on building 50,000 flats in the capital alone and, to this end, building 10,000 flats every year while powerfully promoting the housing construction on a nationwide scale during the 2021-2025 five-year plan.
2021, the first year of the construction of 50,000 flats, was a year with greater challenges and obstacles than ever before.
The large-scale project for building 10,000 flats itself was beyond imagination. Moreover, the amount of project was enormous, whereas the period was short.
The WPK, however, decided to promote unconditionally the construction of 10,000 flats directly related to the life of the capital citizens.
So, the construction of 10,000 flats in Pyongyang City in 2021 was adopted as a decision of the Second Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Party Central Committee.
At the plenary meeting, Kim Jong Un stressed that the housing construction is an important work for providing the people with a stable and civilized life and a political issue for defending the authority of the Party Congress.
That was how the construction of 50,000 flats in Pyongyang City began.
Kim Jong Un took part in the ground-breaking ceremonies for building 10,000 flats every year as well as their inaugural ceremonies to cut the tape of inauguration.
The new streets could be built in Pyongyang thanks to the noble outlook on the people of the WPK which brings about a brilliant result in the work for the people's well-being by all means without calculating any conditions and possibilities and making an inch of concession.

inaugurated in April 2023)
If the goal of building 50,000 flats in Pyongyang City set by the WPK is attained with success, the housing problem of the capital citizens will be perfectly solved and the capital Pyongyang will become more beautiful and magnificent.
