The 32nd summit meeting of the League of Arab States took place in Jiddah, Saudi Arabia, on May 19.
The meeting discussed regional and international issues crucial to the stability of the Arab world.
Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad attended the meeting for the first time since his country’s AL membership was suspended.
At the meeting the Jiddah declaration was adopted calling on the Arab world to join efforts to resolve regional issues.
Welcoming Syria’s return to the AL, the declaration clarified that the league would step up efforts to help the country resolve its crisis.
It also referred to the peace initiative for the settlement of the Palestinian issue and such measures as for d?tente in Sudan and stabilization of the Yemeni situation.
It rejected external interference in the internal affairs of Arab nations and strongly demanded the discontinuation of all assistance for armed groups formed outside state control.
