Medical workers often say doctor's devotion is the best medicine. It means that a doctor can cure a patient of his illness if he or she shows all devotion to the latter.

In retrospect, medical workers in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have made miraculous achievements in treatment denying the impossibility concluded by the modern medicine with the might of devotion in the ethics of a large socialist family where the people live a harmonious life, helping and leading each other forward.

In the 1960s, some medical workers did not hesitate to donate their blood and flesh to a boy who got burnt three degrees in 48 percent of his whole body. In the 1970s a medical worker transplanted bulbar conjunctivas from his wife and child to a patient.

The warm love of the medical workers of the former generation for the people has been carried forward and the "devoted service" movement is actively conducted by the medical workers.

Typical of them is chief nurse An Kyong Sil at the Unchon County Hospital in South Hwanghae Province. 

For tens of years she has devoted her blood and flesh to a number of patients in a critical condition without hesitation and prepared tonics good for their recovery, showing all her sincerity to them with kindred feelings.

But she kept a bitter memory in her heart.

The following happened some time after she started her career at the hospital. One day she failed to find out the blood vessel of an emergency case in time, who had bled badly and whose blood pressure and pulse had not been nearly felt.

That day, she realized that she cannot do her duty only with the sincerity for patients but she can make a success in treatment only when it is supported by her high technical knowledge and skills.

Afterwards, she tried hard to acquire practical ability of finding out the blood vessels of people with different ages and sexes only by a sense with her eyes closed.

In those days, she kept it as a motto of her life that a medical worker, an engineer of human life, should be ready to devote everything without hesitation to the life and health of the patients.

The state awarded her the titles of Merited Nurse and Meritorious Person of Socialist Patriotism.

Following her mentality, the medical workers are devoting themselves to improving the people's health with warm love for the people.

It is a noble intention of the Workers' Party of Korea to make all the people and coming generations lead a civilized life in good health under the most advanced medical service thanks to the benefits of the socialist public health.

True to the intention, the medical workers devote themselves entirely to improving the people's health with the infinite loyalty to their duty, warm love for the people and utmost devotion for the patients.
