The Eighth Enlarged Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea opened at the headquarters of the WPK Central Committee on June 16.
The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un attended the plenary meeting.
Present there were members of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee, members and alternate members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and members and alternate members of the WPK Central Committee.
Attending the meeting as observers are officials of the relevant departments of the WPK Central Committee and the Cabinet, chairpersons of provincial, city and county people's committees and provincial rural economy committees and leading officials of ministries, national agencies and major industrial establishments.
A presidium of the meeting was elected with members of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee.
The plenum will review the work of all sectors including the economic sectors conducted in the first half of 2023 for implementing the decisions of the sixth and seventh plenary meetings of the Eighth Party Central Committee and take relevant measures. It will also discuss and decide on the policy issues of weighty significance in developing the Korean revolution, including the issue related to the strengthening of the Party and nation building and the issue of the national diplomatic and defence strategy to cope with the changed international situation.
The agenda items were unanimously approved at the plenary meeting.
The meeting entered the discussion of agenda items amid high political consciousness and enthusiasm of all the participants to glorify this significant year of key importance in implementing the decisions of the Eighth Congress of the WPK as a year of great changes and leaps forward to be specially recorded in the history of the country.
