One day in March 1993 President Kim Il Sung called an official and said that he was going to propose to have a programme of the great unity of the whole nation for the reunification of the country discussed and declared at the Supreme People’s Assembly.
Then he explained in detail the programme of the great unity of the whole nation.
Kim Il Sung said that the programme of the great unity of the whole nation had the Ten-Point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland as a standard and that the main content of the latter was to put an end to the Japanese colonial rule by the strength of great unity of the whole nation, those with strength giving strength, those with knowledge offering knowledge and those with money donating money. He said that it was necessary to adopt and make public at the Supreme People’s Assembly the programme of the great unity of the whole nation which was mapped out on the basis of the main content of the Ten-Point Programme of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland in accordance with requirements of the contemporary urgent situation of the national reunification.
Kim Il Sung made public the Ten-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation for the Reunification of the Country at the 5th Session of the 9th Supreme People’s Assembly held in April 1993.
Saying that all those who are concerned about the destiny of the nation, whether they be in the north, or in the south, or overseas, and whether they be communists or nationalists, rich or poor, atheist or believers, must unite as one nation, transcending all their differences, and together pave the way for national reunification, Kim Il Sung made public the programme for national reunification which extensively elucidated the object and ideological basis of great national unity, principles and ways for unity as the Ten-Point Programme of the Great Unity of the Whole Nation.
