The Mansudae Fountain and Flower Park in Somun-dong, Central District in the capital city of Pyongyang, is one of favourite haunts of citizens.
It consists of a four-section flower garden of 3 800 square metres, a fountain of 900 square metres and an arch-style walkway covered with ramblers.
On clear sunny days, a rainbow always forms over the fountain which jets water up to five metres, and in the blooming season, bees and butterflies fly in the flower garden.
The flower garden presents a peculiar formative beauty with morning glory, French marigold, daisy, ageratum, periwinkle, rose, yellow rose, violet, redbud and others.
The park is also arranged in a harmonious way with Magnolia obovata , maple, juniper, zelkova, and apricot, plum and peach trees.
Ri Hui Son, 65, resident in Neighbourhood Unit No. 2 of Mansu-dong, said: The flowers in the park are always fresh. Whenever I step in the park, I feel refreshed.
According to Jong Chol Ung, a technical staff of the park, wedding couples competitively visit the park in the blooming season, unfolding unusual scenery in the park.
