Japanese Public Condemn Authority’s Attitude to Israel’s Massacre and Middle East Situation

As there is a growing international effort to reject Israel’s acts of worsening the Middle East situation and the U.S. act of patronizing it, voice is growing in Japan calling for Israel to stop brutal massacre of the civilians in Gaza Strip.
On November 3, demonstration was held in Fukuoka demanding an end to Israel’s attacks in Gaza Strip.
Demonstrators, holding placard saying “Immediate Ceasefire” and pictures showing destruction of Gaza Strip, marched along bustling street of the city shouting slogans of “Freedom to Palestine” and “Stop Ethnic Massacre”.
At speeches delivered after demonstration, an associate university professor from Gaza Strip origin said in a protest meeting that “Israel is killing innocent children and women”.
On November 5, “Medical Team of Hokkaido in Palestine”, which has continued providing medical support in Gaza Strip, held a rally in Sapporo.
A UN staff who attended the rally by virtual modality said that “The civilians are suffering indiscriminately due to the military conflicts between Israeli army and Islamic resistance movement Hamas”. And the head of the medical team stressed that “There is no water, medicine and goods in Gaza Strip. This is indeed a humanitarian crisis”.
On November 12, the students in Tokyo also held a demonstration against the Israeli attack in Gaza Strip, calling for Israel to “stop massacre at once”.
Meanwhile, the opposition parties of Japan are also criticizing the authority for siding with pro-Israeli policy of the U.S.
On November 6, an opposition party leader held a press conference in the parliament building and criticized the government’s reaction to the situation in Gaza Strip.
He said that “Japan, while denouncing Hamas, does not regard the barbarity of Israel as a violation of the international law. It is heartless of them not to even think about ceasefire or truce.” and that “Whichever county it is, any illegal act of breach of the UN Charter and international law can never be tolerated”. He then revealed the fact that the document was sent to the UN members and relevant international organizations calling for a step to put an end to the Israeli attack and an act to take an immediate ceasefire.
On November 9, the foreign minister said at the Security Committee of the House of Representatives that “Israel has the right to defend the state and civilians based on the international law”. The opposition parties, taking his remark as an acknowledgement of Israeli counterattack, came down hard on him saying that “Japan has lost balance in its diplomacy in the Middle East”.
