April 25, 2025 is a significant day marking the 6 th anniversary of the first official visit paid by Comrade Kim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK), to the Russian Federation and the historic meeting held with Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

The DPRK-Russia friendly and cooperative relations that have been forged, strengthened and developed on a sustainable basis by the preceding leaders have now greeted a new heyday with the special attention of Comrade Kim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs of the DPRK, and that of Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, President of the Russian Federation.

It was 6 years ago from now in April, 2019 when respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs, visited Vladivostok of Russia and had the first meeting of great significance with the respected president Comrade Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. This served as an epoch-making event, which placed the bilateral relations with a long-standing friendship and deep-rooted tradition on a new high level.

The historic DPRK-Russia summit provided a firm guarantee for the friendly relations between the two countries to develop steadily and more progressively on the track of overall development.

At the meeting, respected Comrade Kim Jong Un , President of the State Affairs, and respected Comrade President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, had an in-depth discussion on the ways and means to arrange more high-level visits and ensure close strategic communications and tactical cooperation on the journey to secure peace and security in and around the Korean peninsula. The two leaders reached a consensus on all the issues discussed.

In line with the spirit of the agreement reached at the Vladivostok DPRK-Russia summit, the two countries have continuously developed the bilateral relations across several fields including politics, the economy and culture through close contact and mutually beneficial collaboration, while braving challenges and obstruction of all hues at home and abroad.

The historic DPRK-Russia summit held on June 19, 2024 in Pyongyang further elevated the friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries to the level of future-oriented invincible alliance, thus unfolding a period of overall efflorescence in bilateral relations.

The treaty on establishing a comprehensive and strategic partnership between the two countries, concluded at the historic DPRK-Russia Pyongyang summit, offered a legal framework for carrying out the far-reaching plan formulated by the leadership of the two countries and for achieving the common desire and aspiration of their peoples to build powerful states while firmly defending the regional and global security environment in conformity with their common interests.

Upholding the noble intention of the leaders of the two countries, we will continue to closely cooperate in building a peaceful and just new world while further strengthening communication through joint efforts of the two countries on the solid basis of the new inter-state treaty.

From the very outset of the Ukrainian crisis, we consistently and strongly supported the just struggle of the heroic army and people of Russia, resolutely standing against the highhandedness and arbitrariness of the U.S. and the West who are the destroyers of global peace and stability. Such unreserved support of ours for Russia will remain invariable in the future, too.

We take this occasion to wish Russia victory in their sacred cause of sovereignty, stability and territorial integrity of the country, thus writing a new page in history and brilliantly celebrating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the war this year that marks the Year of Defenders of the Motherland as befits the descendants of the war victors’ generation.

The relations between the DPRK and Russia, with their historic origin in the righteous and sacred struggle against the common enemy, will invariably advance along the due course of their development, unaffected by all kinds of trials and tribulations of history, and the nature of friendship and cooperation between the two countries will be solidified further during the course.
