Russia and the DPRK have long and close relations, historically formed and constantly developed. Their characters were different in several historic periods.

The first Soviet government established after the socialist revolution in 1917 attached importance to the establishment of peaceful relations between states and friendly relations between people. This line was maintained even in the later period.

Defeat of the Japanese imperialists and the end of the World War II promoted developing new relations of internationalism, unity in action and mutual assistance between unified democratic Korea and the Soviet Union. Unfortunately, peace on the Korean peninsula was not welcomed by everyone. US imperialism provoked a war against the DPRK people, but it suffered a catastrophic defeat in the war. However, enemies of the DPRK people got the latter, a homogeneous nation, to fight each other and divided the DPRK into the north and the south, thus weakening them.

The Soviet Union rendered support to the building of a new Korea in every way. But socialism and Soviet power in the Soviet Union collapsed and fraternal relationship between the Russian Federation and the DPRK was blocked due to difficulties faced by the Soviet Union, pressure by imperialist forces and undisguised betrayal of socialism by M. S. Gorbachev and his clique.

Such mistakes are being corrected gradually and slowly but with difficulty.

To our regret, now it is hard to find correct information about the fraternal DPRK people and the DPRK situation on most of Russian newspapers and on publications.

Filling the vacancy in the DPRK-related information made in the Russian Federation and keeping friendly relations with the DPRK people who are the fraternal neighbor, among all residents in the region of the maritime territory and the Far East—this is a task set forth by the communists when they organized the Association for the Study of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism in the Far East Region of Russia.

Its organizer is A. N. Dolgachev, the first secretary of the Maritime Territory Branch Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation. At present Ye. Ryashenko, Maxim Shinkarenko, Archom Samsonov and other comrades-in-arms of his are carrying his work forward.

The association is now expanding its influence in the Republic of Saha (Yakutsk), the maritime territory, Khabarovsk and provinces of Amur, Kamchatka, Magadan, Sakhalin, the autonomous district of Jews and several other areas in the Far East. According to the order of the Russian president, Republic Buryatsia and Zabaikal Territory were belonged to the federal district in 2018.

Now the association is designing its activities in various ways.

The first orientation of the activities is organization. Today it has branches in Kamchatka, Yakutsia, Magadan, Khabarovsk Territory, Sakhalin, Irkutsk, Blagoveshchensk, many cities in the Far East region and soviets of the Russian Federation.

The association puts main stress on the work with the youth, especially with members of the Lenin Young Communist League but young people outside the league also take part in its work.

The second orientation of the activities is to strengthen relations and exchanges with the DPRK.

Every year, the association forms delegations with its members including intellectual delegates such as scholars and officials of the Federal University of the Far East and pressmen as well as young people and sends the delegations to visit the DPRK on the occasion of anniversaries and celebration days related to the history of the DPRK and the WPK and to the activities of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the WPK General Secretary Comrade Kim Jong Un, the great leaders of the DPRK people.

Almost every year, members of children’s union are sent to the Songdowon International Children’s Camp in the DPRK, and an organization of the young communist league headed by Ye. Ryakoshenko also climbed up Mt Paektu during the visit to the DPRK.

We keep mutual relationship while participating in seminars of scientific practice and theory and international seminars on the study of the Juche idea through the Korean Association of Social Scientists.

Our members made speeches at international and other seminars held in St. Petersburg (Leningrad).

The association helps the DPRK youth delegations with the trip to foreign countries.

It also cooperates in exchanging delegations between the Central Committees of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Communist Party of Russian Federation.

The third orientation of the activities is propaganda, which is regarded as a main front in our work.

Propaganda is mainly spread through mass media at present.

The association distributes among the young people in the Far East region not only publications, e-media and pictorials got from the DPRK Consulate General in Vladivostok but pictorial “The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea” and immortal classic works of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il and the General Secretary Comrade Kim Jong Un, which they bought during their stay in the DPRK.

We carry systematically the history of the DPRK and the WPK and their present realities on newspaper Pravda Primoriya, a party publication.

We give lectures systematically to the young people on the Korean history and the DPRK’s Juche idea and Songun politics and disseminate the knowledge of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism among them.

For example, Gennadi Petrovichi Kulikhov gave such a lecture in this May when a conference of young communist league members was held. He plans another one in September.

Protest is an important orientation of our activities.

What plays an important role in our work is to participate in mass protest campaign for support to the DPRK and the WPK.

For instance, we had a protest march against the military drill staged by the US and the south Korean puppets near the seashore of the DPRK.

We organized a protest against the American hostile policy towards the DPRK in front of the US Consulate General in Vladivostok.

These types of activities are conducted systematically every year.

The association’s working program includes the support to historical and commemorative events to be held in the DPRK.

We send letters and congratulatory messages to the DPRK and the WPK leadership through the DPRK Consulate General in Vladivostok.

We also attend events held by the DPRK Consulate General in Vladivostok.

We pay a regular visit to the consulate general to exchange opinions on urgent issues of the modern times and so on.

We are finding out new sources in our work.

Especially, we have begun to grasp the Internet in a more comprehensive way.

Through various working orientations and various types of activity, the association deals with situation changes promptly, grasps changing interests of young people and keeps maintaining its influence on residents in the region.

Events occurred in the international arena influenced our activities. The first of them is the COVID-19 pandemic.

The pandemic disturbed work of the association and restrained the people from getting in touch with each other but it could not stop our work.

We began to make broader use of non-contact form of work, that is, the Internet.

On the occasion of the national day of Russia, Comrade Kim Jong Un, President of the DPRK State Affairs, sent a message of congratulations to V. V. Putin, president of the Russian Federation, which created special, broad and positive sensations.

In the message, Comrade Kim Jong Un, President of the DPRK State Affairs, wished the Russian people the victory and the strengthening of friendly and cooperative relations.

He in the message offered warm congratulations on behalf of the government of the DPRK and its people to the president and the government of the Russian Federation and the friendly Russian people on their national day.

The message appreciated that the strong and wise Russian people have made proud history and culture for a long time since they took their deep roots in their vast land, and covered a proud path of development, demonstrating the dignity and might of a powerful country.

It said that thanks to the correct decision and guidance of the Russian president, the struggle of the Russian people to foil the hostile forces' escalating threats and challenges to deprive Russia of its sovereignty, security and peaceful life has entered a new decisive phase.

Justice is sure to win and the Russian people will continue to add glory to the history of victory, the tradition peculiar to them, the message stressed.

It noted that the people of the DPRK are extending full support and solidarity to the Russian people in their all-out struggle for implementing the sacred cause to preserve the sovereign rights, development and interests of their country against the imperialists’ high-handed and arbitrary practices and to realize the international justice.

The message said that the DPRK-Russia friendship, which has weathered all trials of history generation after generation and century after century, is a precious strategic asset common to the two countries and it is the fixed stand of the DPRK government to ceaselessly develop the good neighborly and cooperative relations, as required by the new era.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un in his message affirmed his willingness to strive for closer strategic cooperation between the DPRK and Russia, holding hands firmly with the Russian president, in conformity with the common desire of the peoples of the two countries to fulfill the grand goal of building a powerful country and reliably defend global peace and security.

The message sincerely wished the Russian president good health and bigger success in his responsible work, and the friendly Russian people constant prosperity, development and victory.

Indeed, this is a historic message to be kept in minds of the Russian people!
