Today the International Institute of the Juche Idea organizes an international seminar on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

For 75 years, the DPRK has been a target of high-intensity pressure, and threat, sanction and blockade imposed by hostile forces, unprecedented in history, in all fields such as politics, the economy, military affairs and diplomacy.

Challenges, which this country had to cope with, were so cruel and dangerous that no country could have stood them even a day.

But no difficulty could check or delay the advance of the DPRK people.

How can this be explained?

In my opinion, it is thanks to the Juche idea with which they fully armed themselves.

The Juche idea clarified that man occupies a position of master in the world and plays a decisive role in changing the world. Masses of the people are masters and motive force of the revolution and construction. In other words, one is master of one’s own destiny and has strength to shape it.

Based on this, the Juche idea indicates the road which the masses, the subject of history, should take to shape their destiny on their own.

The Juche idea was authored by President Kim Il Sung (1912-1994) who embarked on the road of the struggle to liberate Korea and its people from the Japanese military occupation (1905-1945) at the age of less than 20 in the mid-1920s.

President Kim Il Sung formulated the Juche idea in the period of groping for a path of the Korea revolution, and applied it in the whole Korean revolution. The Korean people who had been reduced to colonial slaves became genuine masters of an independent and sovereign state and built an independent, self-sufficient and self-defensive socialist country as they had the Juche idea.

Independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence are the main ideas that decide development mode of the DPRK.

The Juche idea emphasizes that the popular masses are masters in transforming nature and developing society.

President Kim Il Sung built the DPRK into an independent, self-sufficient and self-defensive socialist state on the basis of the Juche idea.

Chairman Kim Jong Il (1942-2011) of the DPRK National Defence Commission systematized the Juche idea in an integrated way and enriched it. As a result, the Juche idea became the guiding ideology of the DPRK and was materialized in the state building.

The Juche idea consists in the basis of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.

Comrade Kim Jong Un defined that Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism that is the WPK’s guiding ideology is, in essence, the people-first principle.

The world socialist cause underwent failures and crises entering the end of the 20th century. Same was in the situation of socialist Korea. When socialism collapsed in several countries, hostile forces hurriedly declared the “end of socialism” in the world and focused their attack upon the DPRK advancing invariably with the banner of socialism. The DPRK people could not but have to undergo the unprecedentedly Arduous March in defence of their socialism.

Amid such fierce confrontation, the enemies failed in their scheme to annihilate the DPRK, the fortress of socialism. Thanks to the Songun politics of Chairman Kim Jong Il, the DPRK’s self-defensive potentiality was considerably strengthened to safeguard socialism of the DPRK and to defend peace and security of the Korean peninsula and the world.

Today the DPRK people apply the Juche idea more thoroughly and, as usual, adhere to the principles of independence in politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in national defence as required by the Juche idea under the leadership of Kim Jong Un, President of the DPRK State Affairs.

Herein lies the secret of the single-hearted unity in the DPRK. The DPRK is a country in which the entire people are firmly rallied around the WPK. The whole Party, all the people and the entire army are united around their leader Kim Jong Un.

President Kim Jong Un of the DPRK State Affairs gave an order to departments of the Party Central Committee to be mobilized in building dwelling houses and erasing the damage caused by typhoon and flood and to help South Hwanghae Province in its farming.

The WPK has always relied on the popular masses as required by the principles of Juche.

The principle of independence maintained by President Kim Il Sung was also held fast to by Chairman Kim Jong Il.

Chairman Kim Jong Il expressed it as Let us meet the requirements of Juche in ideology, technology and culture!

Exploits of President Kim Il Sung performed in leading the cause of global independence keep shining brilliantly thanks to Chairman Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un, President of the DPRK State Affairs.

The DPRK of Juche will remain as an independent, modern and invincible nuclear power that values well-being of the people and enjoys respect in the international arena under the leadership of President Kim Jong Un who always adds luster to dignity and vitality of Juche Korea by holding high the banner of independence.

As an idea quickest in its dissemination, the Juche idea is now disseminated broadly on a world-wide scale. The Juche idea followers are enrolled in one organizational system ranging from the International Institute of the Juche Idea to the organizations in each continent and country, and they make strenuous efforts.

Applying the Juche idea under the present international circumstance is important for the people who demonstrate their existence and demand justice and environmental protection.

It is natural that an idea grips the people’s hearts if it illuminates the road ahead of mankind.

The Juche idea will shine brilliantly forever with the victorious advance of the cause of global independence.
