Light workers take hearty nutritious lunch every day at the nutrition canteen of the Junggu Light Labour Workshop Management Board.
According to Pang Yong Jin, staffer in charge of general affairs, occupational therapy and therapies based on nutritious meals and tonics are the main factor in rehabilitating the employees.
Cook Kim Sun Hui strives to make various and distinctive dishes with fish, meat and bean to meet nutritional demands and tastes of the employees.
Particularly, the nutrition canteen makes and serves various kinds of recuperative dishes and special meals at weekends.
And such tonics as Ryukmihwan, Sipjondaebohwan and Uhwangchongsimhwan are normally supplied to light workers under a national supply system.
The management board has a doctor for light workers to look after the recovery of their health.
“We are always under the care of the doctor. The doctor pays close attention to our health every day and takes necessary measures. To make the country’s benefits reach us, the doctor devotes sincere efforts to the recovery of our health,” said Choe Yong Dok, one of the light workers.
He added that the rehabilitation mainly based on such Koryo therapies as acupuncture, moxibustion and cupping is highly effective for all the light workers like him.
“We did neither render distinguished service nor perform special feats for the country. So, we are filled with deep gratitude whenever we think of the benefits the state provides us for the recovery of our health. As it is said that cure for diseases is part mind and part medicine, we seem to recover health quickly thanks to the benevolent system and altruistic people,” said Jo Pyong Chol, another light worker.
Many light workers have been restored to health and thus returned to their previous workplaces.
