December 2 1956 is an unforgettable day for the Cuban people and armed forces.
Under the leadership of Fidel Castro Ruz, the Cuban revolutionaries assaulted the Moncada military fortress in July 1953. Though they failed owing to the manoeuvres of the Batista dictatorship, it could not break the will of the revolutionaries.
After making full preparations for guerrilla warfare in a foreign country, the Cuban revolutionaries landed in their country on board the Granma on December 2 1956 and waged an arduous struggle, and finally overthrew the pro-US fascist dictatorial regime and won victory in the revolution in January 1959.
Since then, Cuba has celebrated the day the revolutionaries landed in the country as the day of the Cuban revolutionary armed forces.
The Cuban people established a socialist system for the first time in the Western Hemisphere and have made brilliant achievements in politics, the economy, culture and all other fields of social life under the guidance of the Communist Party of Cuba.
The Cuban revolutionary armed forces have fulfilled their mission and duty of reliably defending the country from the imperialists’ policy of hostility towards Cuba.
When the US imperialists and their mercenaries attacked Playa Giron in April 1961, the Cuban forces in collaboration with the people repelled the armed invasion and defended their country.
Today, Cuba is directing great efforts to building up its military capability to safeguard national sovereignty and socialism in the face of the anti-Cuban moves of the hostile forces to stifle it.
Cuba is known as a country with a beautiful landscape.
After discovering it in 1492, Columbus described it in his diary as a beautiful land that the human eye had never seen.
The Cuban soldiers and people, the masters of the beautiful land, are perfecting war methods and upgrading military equipment with a deep sense of responsibility for national defence.
The Cuban revolutionary armed forces are in constant combat-readiness to protect the country and socialism from the enemy’s invasion at any moment, while striving to build up the defence capabilities in the face of the ever-growing anti-Cuban moves of the imperialists.
The Korean people are extending invariable support to and solidarity with the efforts of the Cuban counterpart to foil every threat and blackmail of the hostile forces and staunchly defend socialism and the country’s sovereignty.
