A national sci-tech presentation in the field of sericulture took place through video conferencing between November 28 and 30 under the sponsorship of the Korean Association of Sericulture and Silk Technology under the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.
Present at the presentation held under the theme of "Raising the Productivity of Cocoons" were scientists, technicians and field officials of over 70 units including Kim Il Sung University, the Pyongyang University of Agriculture and the Sericulture Institute under the Academy of Agricultural Science.
More than 130 valuable papers were presented to the presentation, which were proved in the course of the production of mulberry leaves and cocoons including the production of good-quality silkworm species and young mulberry plants, the improvement of fertility of soil and the prevention of harmful insects.
The experience of having raised the ratio of success in the cocoon production, the effective early spring silk raising method and other proposals were highly estimated at the presentation as they are of great practical significance.
