Kim Sang Sun has been working as a nurse at the Sariwon Baby Home for 50 years since her girlhood, which can be said to be almost all of her life.
Now she is 67 years old, but called a mother of babies. How could she work as a nurse for 50 years?
She had been recommended to a university after graduating from middle school, but she became a nurse because of her father who was working at a provincial people's committee at that time.
One day, her father earnestly said: The great leader Kim Il Sung is worrying about a problem of nursery school teachers but young women are not willing to do the job. I am working at the provincial people's committee and you are my daughter. I want you to work as a nurse.
This is how Kim Sang Sun became a nurse on the recommendation of her father.
While working as a nurse, she experienced the great and warm love of the Workers' Party of Korea for the children and realized that she was serving at the most important work place of bringing up children, the future of the country. At the same time, she felt thankful to her father for having encouraged her to choose the job.
Whenever she felt tired in those days, she would brace herself up recalling her father's saying that genuine happiness lies in relieving the country of its cares. In those years, she brought up more than 800 children including 48 sets of triplets.
She said she was happiest to see the children she brought up do a great job for the country and that she is proud of her work for 50 years when she has made efforts to ease worries of the country even a little.
Meritorious Person of Socialist Patriotism and Merited Nurse Kim Sang Sun always finds herself among children even in the twilight years of her life, enjoying a worthwhile life which cannot be compared with any honour and treasure.
