Dear comrades,

I extend our warmest greeting to all participants in the name of the Brazilian Center for the Study of the Juche Idea.

At this special event of celebrating the 75th founding anniversary of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, we have an opportunity to share experiences and knowledge between all comrades who study and disseminate the Juche idea in relevant countries. Today I am going to speak about the DPRK, the vanguard in the cause of socialism and its construction in our times. The international communist movement got into a serious political and ideological crisis since modern revisionists took power in the USSR. The modern revisionists who spoke for Khrushchev attacked the history of experiences first gained in building socialism and defamed Stalin. With these criminal behaviors, the revisionists opened a way for bourgeois liberalism and the USSR and other socialist countries were gradually contaminated by the ideas that have no relations to the socialist system. This ideological disorder was followed by some reforms in economic system, and all of these gradually led them to the complete return to the capitalist system.

In 1962 when the ideological crisis was serious in the international communist movement, Leader Kim Jong Il made clear and scientific analyses of the character of modern revisionism in his talk with the students at Kim Il Sung University.

Recollecting the great leader Comrade Kim Il Sung’s saying, Leader Kim Jong Il said that modern revisionism is as same as revisionism in the past and they refuse the fundamental principles of Marxism on the pretext of the change of the times, and assert to cease the revolutionary struggle while serving the interests of the imperialists and reactionary classes.

From this we can realize that the Korean comrades, who were led by President Kim Il Sung and Leader Kim Jong Il, have built the DPRK into a powerful political and ideological fortress by consistently maintaining the correct and militant stand from the first period in defence of the socialist system and the proletarian revolutionary ideas. The USSR collapsed and capitalism was restored in some socialist countries, but the Workers’ Party of Korea clearly proved validity of its powerful revolutionary ideology. This enabled the DPRK people to advance dynamically with the uplifted red banner of revolution. I think it is important to emphasize these facts. Because these facts help us have understanding of the DPRK people and their revolutionary Party. They also help us in understanding how the DPRK could be developed into an important fortress of socialism without suffering from the fate that other socialist countries did.

Leader Kim Jong Il stressed in his immortal classic work The Historical Lesson in Building Socialism and the General Line of Our Party.

“…it is imperative to strengthen the working-class party organizationally and ideologically, ensure its leadership of the revolution and construction, steadily enhance the function and role of the socialist government, safeguard and develop socialist ownership and resolutely combat imperialism.”

Leader Kim Jong Il considered that, in order to build socialism, it was necessary for the people who build a socialist society to arm themselves with the ideas that are suited to characters of a new society, to lead it so that they could play the role of masters of society correctly and to further strengthen and solidify the leadership role of a working-class party in the process of making revolution. To this end, the DPRK comrades established a system based on the single-minded unity of the leader, the Party and the people. As they clearly proved and applied such principles, the WPK could defend and strengthen the socialist system even in the arduous situation which is characterized by crises of the international communist movement and the imperialist encirclement. Comrade Kim Jong Un said in the report to the 7th Congress of the WPK on the work of the Central Committee.

“Even in the severe struggle to defend socialism our Party, looking forward to a future of national prosperity with firm confidence in victory, set the ambitious goal of building a powerful socialist country and steadily strove to advance the socialist cause to a new stage.”

Today when 7 years have passed since he said this, we can say that the DPRK has been completely consolidated into a powerful socialist country that has strong defence capacities. During these 75 years of struggle to build a powerful socialist country, the DPRK people achieved numerous achievements which were genuine examples for all the people struggling for independence. Social successes are as follows; allocation of flats, education and medical care have been free, gender equality has been established, illiteracy was eradicated, land reform was made and it was followed by agricultural cooperativization, socialist industrialization was completed, taxes were abolished, cities with infrastructure equipped with modern facilities that serve the people are built, etc.

All these are important achievements made by the DPRK people through their arduous struggle for independence. The achievements can be maintained and practically guaranteed only by socialism.

On this occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the DPRK, we believe that the DPRK people will defend firmly the cause of socialism in the future, too.

The WPK will achieve continuous victories in the socialist construction and develop the Korean revolution onto a new phase under the leadership of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, thus demonstrating superiority of the Korean-style socialism.
