Press Statement of Kim Yo Jong, Deputy Department Director of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea
The intentional and planned military threats of the United States and its vassal forces constantly driving the security environment of the Korean peninsula and northeast Asia into the whirl of confrontation and conflict are anti-peace moves making a frontal challenge to the desire of humanity for peace and stability of the Korean peninsula, northeast Asia and the world.
The ceaseless military drills of the United States and its vassal forces and the frequent appearance of US nuclear weapons resemble the full preparations for armed invasion made under the self-made pretext of deterring somebody's threat. It has too clear purpose aimed at the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and it is the greatest of the sources aggravating the regional situation.
But the UN Security Council held a meeting taking issue with the exercise of our right of self-defence alone while excluding and conniving at the rhetorical and actional provocations of the United States and the Republic of Korea, the direct motive that touched off the reaction of the DPRK again, nakedly revealing its true nature which is useless and helpless in ensuring the international peace and security.
It is a matter of much regret.
I am very unpleasant at the fact that the UN Security Council called the open meeting according to the brigandish demand of the United States and its vassal forces and brought up the sovereign right of the DPRK for discussion by questioning it, and strongly denounce it.
The UN Security Council should impose heavy responsibility on the irresponsible attitude and action of the United States and the Republic of Korea which have worsened the situation of the Korean peninsula with various kinds of military provocations throughout the year while inciting confrontation with the DPRK and the international community should unanimously criticize those who aggravated the regional situation.
The hostile forces had better agonize from now over how the DPRK would define and regard the character of the future scenarios of military confrontation with it announced by the United States and the Republic of Korea beforehand and how it would deal with them.
