Pyongyang, January 3 (KCNA) -- An exhibition of farm machines, "Farm machine industry development-2023", is under way at the Three-Revolution Exhibition House. The exhibition serves as an important occasion in clearly defining the direction of the development of the country's agricultural machine industry amid the great enthusiasm of all the people across the country who have made a vigorous step for 2024 in the spirit of general offensive for making a leap forward towards new victory true to the idea and spirit of the 9th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea.

Kim Jong Un , general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, visited the exhibition on January 2.

He was accompanied by senior party and government officials, including Kim Tok Hun, Jo Yong Won, Ri Il Hwan, Kim Jae Ryong, Jon Hyon Chol, O Su Yong, Ju Chol Gyu, Ri Chol Man and Yang Sung Ho.

On display at the venue of the exhibition are more than hundreds of kinds of farm machines designed and manufactured in cooperation with the Agricultural Commission and relevant fields, including various kinds of tractors, rice-transplanters, unmanned helicopters for agriculture, wheat and barley planters and mobile combined maize threshers.

Watching the farm machines on display, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un learned in detail about their performance and technical specifications.

He appreciated great efforts made by the relevant farm machine production units and relevant units to produce efficient and high-performance farm machines suited to our countryside's actual conditions with their own technical force.

He said it is most important to make a correct assessment of the existing technical capability for manufacturing farm machines and, on this basis, work out a long-term development plan in a scientific way with the view that quality is priority and basic before the number in attaining the goal of mechanization of agricultural work set forth by the programme for the rural revolution in the new era.

Noting that to bring about a radical improvement in the field of farm machine industry at present is an urgent requirement of the revolution and an important guarantee for implementing the programme for the rural revolution in the new era, he clarified the principled issues for correctly adopting the strategy for developing farm machines and accelerating the modernization of the farm machine production sector and the creation of its capacity and the important tasks for doing so. -0-
