The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un delivered historic policy speech “On the Immediate Tasks for the Prosperity and Development of Our Republic and the Promotion of the Wellbeing of Our People” at the 10th Session of the 14th Supreme People’s Assembly of the DPRK on January 15.

The policy speech has created a great sensation among the Korean people as it indicated a definite path and ways for translating into a solid, clear and impending reality the ideal they have pursued with faith generation after generation in the course of an arduous and protracted struggle.

In the speech, he put forward the main agenda items of the session discussing the state affairs for the new year, the important tasks facing the DPRK government in bringing about great changes and innovations for the comprehensive development of socialist construction and the improvement of the people’s living standards in a multi-stage, three-dimensional and offensive manner henceforth and all matters of principle to be maintained in carrying out the tasks.

As the fundamental guidelines to be strictly adhered to and thoroughly embodied in carrying out the Party’s decisions in all fields of state affairs perfectly and without any unsettled question by grasping the decisions as the lifeline have been laid down, the DPRK government and people have become able to write the sacred history of development of the country with more definite and innovative successes.

The policy speech constitutes immortal guidelines which make it possible to powerfully promote the overall development and rejuvenation of the state in a substantial and powerful way.

It clearly specifies the plans for state administration and economic growth, measures and ways. Especially, it pointed to the need to put steady spurs to production growth and concentrate efforts on rapidly finishing readjustment and reinforcement in all the economic sectors.

It also set the tasks of gathering a bumper harvest once again this year, stepping up the mechanization of agriculture and the reclamation of tideland on a full scale and simultaneously developing vegetable farming, animal husbandry, fruit farming and industrial crop farming.

In particular, it stressed that the supreme task to which the government should attach utmost importance and pay great efforts at present is to stabilize and improve the people’s living as early as possible and announced a new regional industrial development policy constituting a gigantic revolution for fulfilling the long-cherished desire of regional people and important measures for the implementation of the policy.

More specifically, the Regional Development 20×10 Policy is to build modern regional industry factories in 20 counties without fail every year and thus raise a level higher the basic material and cultural living standards of all the people across the country within 10 years.

This policy will serve as a driving force behind the more rapid and dynamic overall development of Korean-style socialism.

Through the session, the WPK and the government clearly demonstrated their firm resolution and strong will to successfully bring about the rapid development of local areas unprecedented in the history of the DPRK without fail as early as possible and thus realize the people’s desire and ideal.

As the policy speech is a great action programme for achieving in a multi-stage, three-dimensional and offensive way great changes in all fields of socialist construction and the improvement of the people’s standards of living, all the Koreans have turned out in the implementation of the tasks set forth in the speech with confidence in their happier future.
