Mt Paektu is a strategic base and sacred place of the Korean revolution.

The mountain is associated with the immortal revolutionary exploits of President Kim Il Sung, the peerless patriot and legendary hero of the anti-Japanese war, and the soul of anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners who sacrificed themselves for the liberation of Korea.

In the mountain standing imposingly in a sea of forests, there is the Paektusan Secret Camp where Chairman Kim Jong Il was born as the Shining Star of Paektu. The revolutionary battle sites and other historic places in the Mt Paektu area, which preserve intact the trees bearing slogans declaring the birth of the Shining Star of Paektu to the world, headquarters of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army and battle areas of the anti-Japanese war, help younger generations carry on the revolutionary traditions of Paektu.

Study tourists have continued to visit the mountain where snowstorms and blizzards rage over the past decades.

The enthusiasm for visiting Mt Paektu keeps growing this year, too, as the general will of all the people.

Students in Ryanggang Province made a study tour of the Paektusan Secret Camp, trade union officials from across the DPRK toured the battle sites of Paektu associated with the spirit of the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters and held an oath-taking meeting, and there was another study tour of the area by youth league officials from all parts of the country.

The study tour of the area has been made in all seasons, balmy spring, hot summer, cool autumn and cold winter.

The study tourists harden their resolve to carry on the revolutionary cause of Juche which was started on the mountain to the last as they learn how the Korean revolution took root in this place and how revolutionary forerunners surmounted all hardships on the strength of indomitable spirit.

Through actual experience, they keenly realize once again that the revolutionary spirit of Paektu, the spirit of the blizzards of Paektu, is the most precious spiritual asset that the Korean people should keep forever in their hearts.

They hold a variety of meetings including the study session of the reminiscences of the anti-Japanese guerrillas, a group march accompanied by revolutionary songs and a poem recitation at the revolutionary battle sites of Mt Paektu before making a pledge of faith.

The zeal for the tour of the revolutionary battle sites in the Mt Paektu area has grown further on a nationwide scale after General Secretary Kim Jong Un made a historic march on horseback between late November and early December in 2019.

Many officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students from across the country climbed the mountain along the immortal footprints the General Secretary left on the battle sites of Paektu.

They brace themselves up with the indomitable revolutionary spirit and will displayed by the anti-Japanese guerrillas as they advance holding up the red flag in knee-deep virgin snow, poignant blizzards and icy wind.

Looking at the far-reaching sea of trees and the City of Samjiyon, which underwent tremendous changes, on top of the mountain, they vow to bring the all-people march for the overall development of socialism to a victorious conclusion by dint of indomitable revolutionary spirit and fighting morale possessed by the revolutionary forerunners.

Ranks of successors continue to visit Mt Paektu, which helps maintain the lifeblood of the Korean revolution.
