Efforts are being channelled into developing the regional industry in different parts of the DPRK.

Strong construction forces of the Korean People’s Army were rapidly dispatched to 20 cities and counties, which were included in this year’s project, and are already performing feats after breaking the ground in succession. In the meantime, cement and other building materials are being supplied to the construction sites of regional-industry factories in time.

In keeping with this, provinces, cities and counties are pushing ahead with the work for creating raw material bases and training skilled workers so that modern regional-industry factories could prove their worth when they are in operation.

South Phyongan Province sent farming materials necessary for the creation of raw material bases in Songchon and Sukchon counties.

North Hamgyong Province sent efficient farm machines and large quantities of aid materials to Kyongsong and Orang counties and South Hamgyong Province is finding out and solving difficulties in the establishment of raw material bases in Hamju and Kumya counties.

North Phyongan and North Hwanghae provinces, Nampho City and other regions have organized competitions for creating raw material bases, while expanding the cultivation area of oil-bearing crops and creating raw-material forests for paper production in the relevant areas.

The preparations for operating modern regional-industry factories to be built in different parts of the country are being pushed forward purposefully.

In South Hwanghae Province, technical training is actively given to workers in the regional-industry sector from Jaeryong and Unchon counties.

The workers who participated in the technical training which was organized effectively by grouping the participants according to fields and occupations are working with excellent technicians and skilled workers in the province at production sites to improve their technical and skill levels.

Kangwon Province ensures that the working people selected from cities and counties receive technical training according to their occupations at production units renowned as excellent ones in the province and the whole country. It also helps them acquire advanced scientific and technological knowledge and master modern machines by enrolling them in the online education system.

The province is laying sufficient material and technical foundations while examining and discussing the problems arising in rationally organizing the management structure and distributing manpower at regional-industry factories.

Jagang, Ryanggang and other provinces are also intensifying the training of skilled workers.

Meanwhile, universities are putting spurs to scientific research works conducive to implementing the policy for the development of regional industry.

Kim Il Sung University is directing efforts into designing and manufacturing up-to-date analytical and measuring equipment capable of improving the quality of products at foodstuff and daily necessities factories. Kim Chaek University of Technology has developed an enterprise resource planning system, production management system and automatic control system programs needed for building a standardized integrated production system at regional-industry factories and worked out technical specifications for their introduction.

Pyongyang University of Architecture is pushing ahead with the architectural design of new regional-industry factories to meet the characteristics and purpose of the factories, and drawing up the technical assignment lists related to the establishment of production processes at daily necessities factories and the designs of equipment.

Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry is concentrating on creating and leveraging the economic resources and raw materials of cities and counties and developing regional industry in a comprehensive and balanced way. It is also conducting a full-scale research work to examine, revise and supplement the technical assignment lists of regional-industry factories and to give scientific and technological support to the establishment of food production processes.

Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering is stepping up the technical design of various foodstuff packing processes and other projects in the final stage.
