Chairman Kim Jong Il published the work “On the Juche Idea” on March 31 1982.

This work is an encyclopedia of the revolution which further enriched and developed the Juche idea created by President Kim Il Sung and an immortal programme lighting up the way to carve out the destiny of the masses of the people.

In the work the Chairman set the philosophical, socio-historical and guiding principles of the Juche idea as the main topic and elucidated them scientifically and theoretically, extensively and in depth, thereby giving a perfect explanation that the revolutionary ideas of President Kim Il Sung constitute an integrated system of the idea, theory and method of Juche.

The Juche idea is a powerful ideological weapon to strengthen the internal driving force of the Korean revolution in every way.

An important idea of the work is that you can promote the revolution on your own initiative when the internal driving force has been prepared and the masses’ ideological level is high, even though other conditions are unfavourable.

The Juche idea specifies matters of principle and ways arising in strengthening and developing the Party and revolutionary ranks into a body which is ideologically pure, organizationally integrated and unified in action.

The thoughts and theories clarified by the Juche idea, including the thought on the position and role of the leader in the revolutionary struggle and the thought of building up political forces by firmly uniting all the people around the Party and the leader, are the precious guidelines that should consistently be held fast to in constantly strengthening the internal driving force of the revolution.

The Juche idea is a banner which makes it possible to reliably defend Korean-style socialism by bolstering up national defence capability.

In the work Kim Jong Il pointed to the need to keep faithfully following the line of self-reliance in national defence so as to further strengthen the self-reliant armed forces to be invincible ones and reliably protect the country and the gains of the revolution from any aggressive moves of enemies.

Self-reliance in national defence is a fundamental principle in building an independent and sovereignty state.

The Juche idea contains profound thoughts that give clear answers to practical issues arising in building an independent and sovereignty state. They include the thought that the decisive factor for victory in war is the great political enthusiasm and revolutionary devotion of the army and the masses of the people, the one on building and developing your own defence industry and the one on establishing a defence system involving all the people and the whole country.

The Juche idea is the motive power to make uninterrupted leaps forward and innovations in socialist construction under the uplifted banner of self-reliance and self-sufficiency.

In the work the Chairman also set forth the thought that only when you enlist the strength of your people and the resources of your country and rely on your financial resources and technology on the principle of self-reliance will you be able to develop the economy at a fast rate on your own initiative and achieve national prosperity by overcoming all difficulties.

The spirit of self-reliance and self-sufficiency is based on the great Juche idea that you must carry out the revolution of your country with your own national strength.

The Juche idea is the vitamin that enables you to firmly sustain the original features of socialism and give full play to its advantages.

In the work the Chairman wrote that a socialist society is characterized by its communist nature.

Through his energetic ideological and theoretical activities the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un formulated the revolutionary ideas of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il as Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism and declared it as the eternal guiding ideology of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the Korean revolution at the beginning of the new century of the Juche era.

Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is, in essence, the people-first principle.

It embodies the principle of Juche of regarding the masses of the people as masters of the revolution and construction and relying on their strength, the Juche-oriented viewpoint of working for the good of the people, the most precious and powerful being in the world, and the steadfast stand of fully meeting their demands and serving their interests.

At present a new era of self-existence and prosperity has been ushered in on this land and the DPRK people enjoy the greatest dignity and highest status ever. It is a clear demonstration of the power of the truth of the great Juche idea.
