Health complex full of laughter

The cement complex has a place frequented by its employees after finishing a day’s work. It is the Myongdang Health Complex

Its three-storeyed building is equipped with welfare service facilities for the employees, including bathroom, barbershop and beauty parlour. Especially, employees like the health complex as it also has a fitness room for recovery from fatigue and saunas for medical use.

On the third floor there is a gym where volleyball, basketball and tennis can be played.

According to An Mi Rim, manageress of the health complex, there take place fierce matches between employees in the gym on the sports day of every month and all the employees train their body and conduct cultural and leisure activities to their heart's content in a swimming pool, wading pool, table tennis room, exercise room and so on.

Families of the employees, including women and children, also enjoy themselves swimming in the swimming pool.

A man, who had just had his hair cut, said that he would feel refreshed and invigorated after exercising with various sports apparatuses, taking a bath and having his hair cut in the health complex.

Solid supply service bases

The cement complex also has substantial supply service bases.

Among them is the Myongdang Duck Farm.

The farm has a duck house, vegetable greenhouse section and fish farm, each covering an area of thousands of square metres, a mushroom cultivation ground over a thousand square metres in area, a pig house thousands of square metres in area and a loach farming pond.

In the high-yield duck house the temperature and humidity of the room for hatching eggs, egg rolling and cooling and ventilation are automatically controlled by computer and the gas from duck excrement is removed through fermentation by indigenous microorganisms.

At the mushroom cultivation ground, where a variety of mushrooms are gathered, the temperature, humidity and carbonic acid gas are also automatically controlled by a computer-based environmental monitoring system.

Solar water heaters are installed in all vegetable greenhouses to ensure the internal temperature even in midwinter, while the water temperature of the greenhouses and catfish spawning ponds in them is ensured with the boiler’s cooling water in the mushroom cultivation ground.

The farm prepares the feed for pigs by treating with bacteria the duck excrement, byproducts and used mushroom substrates, and that for rabbits by fermenting the used substrates.

At the vegetable greenhouse built under the pig-raising block, methane gas is produced with pig excrement to boil the animal feed and the methane fermentation liquid is used as organic fertilizer for growing vegetables, thereby producing dozens of tons of vegetables a year.

The cement complex also provides the employees with affluent living conditions by reenergizing the operation of other supply service bases built by itself.
