Devoting His Life to the People

The great leader Kim Il Sung was the benevolent father of the people who devoted himself to them all his life, regarding it as his motto to believe in the people as in heaven.

He built the party, the state and the army as those serving the people.

He adopted the policies centring on the people and advanced the lines reflecting their demand.

To map out every line and policy, Kim Il Sung made his uninterrupted field guidance tour to call on the people.

He visited more than 20,600 units throughout his life, covering the distance of over 578,000 kilometres which is equivalent to making 14 rounds and a half of the earth.

He found himself on the road of field guidance until the last period of his life, saying that when he works harder, the country will thrive and the people be well-off.

Even his birthday, red-letter days and holidays were not an exception.

The following happened in April Juche 66(1977).

Kim Il Sung threw the whole of himself into the work on the road of his field guidance even on the eve of April 15, his birthday. Officials asked him to celebrate his birthday in Pyongyang.

Kim Il Sung, however, said he could not go back to Pyongyang because the farms could hardly do farming due to drought at the moment.

The next morning, it began to rain.

Kim Il Sung exposed himself to the rain for a while that day, his birthday. Cupping rainwater in his hands, he said time and again that it was a medicinal rain, welcome rain and rain for bumper harvest.

Then, he gave field guidance to a farm in the rain.

If you call at schools, you can see a desk he sat at. If you meet anyone, you can hear touching stories about him who shook their greasy hands without ceremony and opened the lids of cooking pot and jars for side dishes in the kitchen.

Once, Kim Il Sung said: Now we are making revolution to build socialism in which all people are well-off. The officials should think and work hard, always keeping the people's interests above all else.

As said above, Kim Il Sung devoted himself to the people's happiness all his life, regarding it as his motto to believe in the people as in heaven.

Today the history of his devoted service for the people's well-being is vigorously carried forward by the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
