Iran Slams U.S. and the West for Patronizing Israel

On April 14, Iran attacked the Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories in retaliation for Israel’s missile strike on the consular section of the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.

A briefing and explanatory meeting in regard to this issue was convened at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran with the participation of ambassadors, diplomats and heads of international agencies residing in Tehran. Iran’s Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the efforts to issue even a minimal statement in the UN Security Council in condemnation of Israel’s assault on Iran’s diplomatic premise was thwarted by the U.S., the UK, and France that are in support of Israel. He continued that had the UN taken measures to denounce Israel’s assault, Iran could have reconsidered its retaliatory operation.

Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement stating that Iran’s retaliatory operation was conducted after more than 10 days of silence and neglect by the UNSC to condemn or punish Israel’s aggression in accordance with Article 51 of the UN Charter. It warned the U.S. against supporting and participating in any action that harms Iranian interests, promising a reciprocal and proportional response from the IRGC military forces.

On April 16, a senior Iranian military spokesman demanded the U.S. and the West to stop supporting the crimes of the Zionist regime. Iran is not seeking to spread the war, he said, and warned that Iran will “cut the feet of the aggressors more powerfully” than before in case the Israeli regime conducts further acts of aggression.
